The Cambridge Canada Day Committee acknowledges that we are situated upon the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabe, and Haudenosaunee Peoples. We - and the Canada Day Celebration that is to take place on July 1, 2023, at Riverside Park – are situated on the Haldimand Tract, land promised to the Six Nations of Grand River, which includes six miles on each side of the Grand River.

 

We also acknowledge the enduring presence and deep traditional knowledge, laws, and philosophies of the Indigenous Peoples with whom we share this land today.

 

This Canada Day is a time for reflection. We urge everyone to listen to and respect the perspectives of others; educate ourselves; and to start new, meaningful conversations. Let this day serve as an opportunity to work together to give us something to celebrate.
